The Winter; beginning from late December, January, February trough March are considered the best and most challenging times of the season, characterized by heavy winds. During this period, large numbers of sailfish gather at the top of the continental shelf north of Isla Mujeres. They are drawn to extensive schools of cigar minnows and Spanish sardines, creating prime conditions for an exciting fishing experience.

As April unfolds, a dramatic shift in wind direction sweeps warm waters through the Yucatán Channel.

Some species are more abundant than others during the winter months, such as the amberjack run that starts by mid-November and continues through mid to late April. However, they can be expected year-round.

Had an outing with the crew of the Sailfish Run, I cannot say enough great things about this crew and the trip! Conditions were a little rough but the crew worked hard to put us on some fish all day long! I have been on other trips before and this trip by far was one of the best! I would highly recommend booking a trip with this company hands down!
