operators charge as last minute fees after they give you a “cheaper
rate” or the “FREE” transport.

information is required by phone or email and you will pay in Cancun the
day that we provide the service.

WE DO NOT PROVIDE THE TRANSPORTATION or claim to provide it for free and

problem.

tackle needed. If you feel more comfortable with your own gear, bring
it along. We are more than happy to help you set it up! (JIGGERS) Each
boat is outfitted with more than 16 rods and reels for any condition and
requests.
Will I get seasick?
Seasickness depends
on the individual and the conditions of the sea the day you go fishing.
We recommend that if you do not know if you get seasick that you take a
commercial motion sickness medication. You can buy it at any pharmacy or
health food store in your hometown. You may also want to use the patches
that go behind the ear.
What can we expect to catch?
What you will catch
depends on the season you come fishing. Please have a look at our
calendar.
Do
you do trolling or bottom fishing?
When you charter
the boat you decide. We normally recommend a combination of the two. So
if trolling is slow we pull up on the reef and let you go for groupers
and snappers. However the decision is yours.
We
want to catch billfish. What do you recommend?
We
specialize during the winter months to target sailfish unless other wise
specified (or the length of the charter permitting). The sailfish run is
the most amazing run on the planet but it comes with a downside, which
is the wind and temperature of the water.
Depending on how the wind is blowing we can run as little as 15 miles to
a distance of 50 miles away depending on the direction of the wind. The
northerly wind pushes the gigantic bait balls closer to the north side
of Isla Mujeres and as it was this past year with constant south
easterly winds we had days that we ran 45 miles and heard of some boats
running as far as 65 miles of required traveling time.
At
this time of the year the best days are after a hard blowing north or
during the north winds.

Our area gets a little rough as the winter only represents it self with
hard northerly winds and it clashes with the northbound currents (but
it’s the most amazing fishing you will ever have).
.
How much travel time to the fishing grounds is there?
Since hurricane
Wilma in 2005, there is a perimeter in place of 5 to 10 miles of
surrounding coast lines called parques nacionales and thereare too many
diving sites. After that there is a long sand bar, therefore, we do not
recommend less than 6 hrs it will take 40 to 50 minutes each way and the
travelling back and forth to fishing grounds is part of your fishing charter.
What kind of bait do you use?
We use (Natural)
mullet, ballyhoo, Bonitos and plenty of artificial lures on board,
Vertical Jigs.
Kianah’s Sportfishing Is the only charter in Cancun fully geared and
also endorsed by some tackle manufactures for vertical jigging.
We will vary the baits and the gear depending on the fishing conditions
or by the customers request.
What are the best fish to take to eat?
The best fish for
your dinner will be Dorado (Mahi Mahi), Wahoo, King Mackarel, Snapper,
and Grouper. Any of these will make for an unforgettable dinner.
